TOMB GIVES UP SECRET.
SKELETONS OLDER THAN HISTORY.
DOG AT FEET OF MASTER*. Pembroke, April 8. Human skeletons nearly 4000 years old have been discovered in a hidden grave at Ludchureh, near here, by Messrs A .G. 0. Mathius and J. (D. Beddoe, two local antiquaries. -With the skeletons is buried a. dog. Sir Arthur Keith, the famous scientist, has identified the bones as those of a woman (evidently an adult), a. mail, a child or a fragment of the backbone of a newlyborn baby. All the bodies were placed together in what was evidently a family tomb. At their feet, with the dust of nearly 4000 years upon it, was the knee-cap of a dog. CLAY BEAKER AS .CLUE. In the tomb was a beaker or drinking vessel made of clay. It is from this beaker that the date of the burial is fixed. Dr. Cyril Fox, the director of the Welsh National Museum at Car-, diff, says the beaker belongs to the beginning of the Bronze Ago —about 1700 iB.C. ROMANCE OF A MISHAP. The finding of these bones, which are older than any recorded history, is itself a romance. Twenty-five yea.rs ago a trac-tion-engine ran on the main road at Ludchureh, and suddenly sank deep into the grass. • The ground was excavated, and .fifteen Inches below She surface was a stone tomb. Investigations have been going on ever since.
