FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of lho Fojxton. {Harbour Board was held in Palmerston North yesterday, presided over by Mr. J. Linklater, M.P. (Chairman). Also present were Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., J. Chrystall, W, E. Barber, 11. Berry, E. R. B. Ilolben and the secretary (Mr. R, Rangiheuea). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. J. Kellow and M- Mortenson.
Mr. E. C. White, Palmerston N., wrote complaining about the bad state of the road leading past his section at the beach. It was decided that the Chairman and Pilot inspect the road and obtain a quotation for repairing same, to be submitted to next meeting.
The surrender of part section 69 at Manawatu Heads by Messrs. Warn and Fidler was approved and the lease of same to J. R. Hardie granted. The Board decided to accede to a request from Messrs Levin and Co., to place a. red flag on the lower sea beacons to obviate any misunderstanding when ships enter the harbour.
The matter of having Mr. Aker’s dredge removed to Foxton was left in the hands of the members who are to inspect same at a date to be fixed by the board. It was decided that the Board take no action in the matter of reducing port charges. The next meeting of the Board will be held in Foxton at 10.30 a.m. on June 25tli.
