MOTOR CYCLE AND GIG COLLIDE.
LOCAL RESIDENT’S NARROW ESCAPE. A miraculous escape from serious injury was experienced by Mr. Alfred Walsh, a local youth, employed at Mr. E. R. Booth’s garage, while riding a motor cycle on the Moutoa road on Saturday ev-
cning. Walsh left Foxton shortly after 5 p.iu. for Moutoa, and when re turning about b. 30 p.m. crashed head on into a gig driven by Mrs. Terry Royal, of Moutoa. The accident occurred in front of Mr. F. S. Easton’s residence, and the force of the impact threw Walsh into the gig, knocking Mrs. Royal and the children out on to the road and rendering Mrs. Royal unconscious. The children fortunately escaped uninjured. Walsh was badly bruised and suffered a good deal from abrasions, but fortunately did not sustain any broken bones. ’ The bike crashed right under the gig, smashing one of the shafts, and is damaged practically beyond repair. The horse escaped injury, and after freeing itself from the wreckage bolted. The gig itself was badly damaged. After receiving medical attention both parties were conveyed to their respective homes, and are reported to be making good recovery from their startling experience.
