SHOCKING FATAL ACCIDENT.

* TO WATERSIDE WORKER. Oamaru, Last Night. When the steamer Wlngatui was being loaded this afternoon at Holmes Wharf a railway truck passed over John Bain, a married waterside worker, aged 65, who suffered shocking injuries, both legs being broken. It appears that Bain went to remove a sling out of the way of the rake of tallow being shunted up to the hatch when he was struck down by the front truck. Bain was removed to hospital and his right leg amputated. His condition is critical.
