FOOTBALL.

The following will represent the Foxton seniors against Weraroa, at the racecourse on Saturday, at 2.50 p.m. Full back: H. Taylor; threequarters: C. Procter, G. Westwood, E. Robinson; five-eighths: M. Moses, T. Fuller; half: K. Ilirini; wing forward: J. Huff; hookers: L. Andrews, B. Cummerfield; lock: C. Renata; breakaways: Pine, H. McGregor; supports: Waikato, S. An- t derson. The team will meet for practice in the practice shed to-night. The whole team are requested to meet in the practise shed on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., to elect a captain. A full attendance is requested. The Thirds will be as follows: —• Huff, Newth, Chrystall, Dunn, Procter, Hartley, Irwin, Anderson, Easton, Marshall, Taylor, Newson, Hofmann, Smith, {Newton, Coley, and Beard. The bus leaves at 1 o’clock sharp.

The Juniors to play Miranui on Saturday will be as follows: —

T. Carter, Wright, Anderson, R. Hornblow, Broad, Huff, Stevenson, Williams, Taylor, Chipper, Burdes, Ross, Thompson, Rankin, Doel.

Members of the committee are requested to be at attendance at the practice shed at 7 o’clock this evening;.

The Shannon Club intends entering a senior, junior and third grade team for the soven-a-side tournament to be held at Palmerston North on June 3rd.

' A resolution was passed by the Management Committee of the Shannon Football Club at their meeting on Friday evening “that no unfinancial member be included in any team in preference to a financial member.”

HOROWHENUA DISTRICT COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Horowhenua District Council was held in Levin on Tuesday. Simpson, of Miranui, was reinstated a junior player. The Foxton Football Club forwarded a letter received from the Foxton Racing Club with reference to football on the racecourse, stating that the committee would grant the club the use and of the two grounds for this season. —Received.

The secretary reported that the Hui Mai thirds had defaulted twice in succession and were now out of the competition. Rep. fixtures were then drawn up as follows: Maori v. Pakeha, Wednesday, June 13th, at Levin. Horowhenua v. Manawatu, Sat- r urday, June 23rd, at Shannon. Bebbington Shield, Rangitikei v. Horowhenua, Saturday, July 7th, at Foxton.

Mr. Hannan was appointed to act as co-selector with Mr. Winiata for the Maori-Pakeha match.

The last games in the first I’ound of the senior competition will take place on Saturday next, and the first of the second round on May 26th. There will not be any games on Saturday, June 2nd, owing to the Otaki races.

On the motion of the Chairman, a fine of 10/- was imposed on the Foxton Club on account of its team going on the field at Manakau on Saturday without a ball.

. A meeting of tilt Manawhenua Council was held in Palmerston N. last night. # The following representative matches were confirmed: — Wednesday, July 11, WairaVapa, in Manawatu. Saturday, August 4, Wanganui, at Wanganui. Saturday, August 11, Canterbury, at Christchurch. Wednesday, August 15, Otago, at Dunedin. Saturday, August 18, Southland, at Invercargill. Wednesday, August 29, Taranaki, in Manawatu. Wednesday, September 5, Hawke’s Bay, in Manawatu, Saturday, September 8, Taranaki, at New Plymouth. Saturday, September 15, Wairarapa, at Masterton. The date for the representative match Horowhtnua v . Manawatu, was fixed for June 23, at Shannon. The Horowhenua Rugby Council were given leave to challenges Rangitikei for tht Bebbington Shield on July 7. It, was unanimously decided that the Wellington Rugby Union be asked to fulfil their obligation to Manawhenua by returning the visit this year, preferably on a Saturday. It was suggested. that the match be played at Levin. A letter from the Poverty Bay Union asking for a visit was receivecl. The Auckland Rugby Union are to be invited to play a match on either September 12 or 19.
