GRAVE CHARGE

MINISTER. CHARGED. ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. Wellington, May Hi. A ease that is likely to cause a sensation came briefly before the Court this afternoon when a minister, aged 49 years, was charged that on November 2, 1927, at Wellington, he did indecently assault a certain other male. On the application of the Chief Detective he was remanded until May 23. • Mr. Virtue, for accused, asked for bail, which was granted on one surety of £l5O and two of £75. Counsel also asked for an order suppressing accused’s name. Mr. Riddell, S.M., said that counsel need not put forward any grounds in support of the application for suppression. He proposed to order suppression pending further proceedings.
