EDUCATION BOARD
The monthly meeting oL' the Wanganui Education Board was hold at Wanganui last night. Present: Messrs Collins (chairman), W, Adams, Mclntyre, J. K. Hornblow, Hemingway, Oram, Woodroof'e and Lambourne (senior inspector). Grants were received from the Department in connection with the Eoxton D.H. School Committee to legal expenses (in connection with transfer of land), cookery utensils, furniture and equipment. The Board gave authority to the Foyton D.H. School Committee to carry out levelling and turfing of High School site at a cost not to exceed the architect’s estimate. No tenders for the work were received by the Board. A school building for Clydesdale was placed on the list of urgent work.
The architect and Mr-. Hornblow to confer with Bainesse committee re teacher’s dwelling. An application, from Educational Film Service, to allow school children to attend screenings during school hours was refused. Mr. H. Schreiber wrote alleging •irregularities at the Carnarvon householders meeting.—Decided to take no action.
