BURGLARY AT OHAU.
POST OFFICE ENTERED AND 250 LETTERS TAKEN.
A burglary was carried out at the Ohau Post Office between five o’clock last .'Friday evening and half-past seven on Saturday morning, and the letter-rack cleared of its contents (says the Chronicle). Entry was affected by means of breaking a glass panel in the front door. About 250 letters are missing, but as far as can be ascertained no valuables were taken. Detective Russell, of Palmerston North, and Constable Bagrie, of Levin, were at Ohau this afternoon, investigating the occurrence. It is almost a year ago that a similar raid was carried out at the Ohau Post Office, the doors then being forced and the letter rack cleared. The thieves on that occasion travelled in a motor car, which they stole from Paekakariki and which was subsequently found in the Manawatu river at the end of the Foxton wharf.
