ENTERTAINMENTS.

TOWiN HALL. One of the few writers whose fiction stories can be easily and almost literally translated to the screen is Zane Grey, famous for his Western romances, according to Director John Waters. The latest Zane Grey story to be filmed for Paramount by Waters is “Nevada,” at the Town Hall Cabaret on Wednesday, which has quick changes in situation and a plot of thrilling adventure that develops rapidly. Its locale is the cattle country in the days of turbulence . and gun play. Gary Cooper is the hero. Thelma Todd supplies the love interest, and the villainy is contributed by William Powell. Cabaret prices. The exceptional gifts and beauty of Marion Davies have definitely made her a great screen favourite and undoubtedly her best offering to date is “Quality Street,” the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer adaptation of Barrie’s great play, which is being shown at the Town Hall on Friday. ROYAL. “What Price Glory,” the merry war film at the Royal Theatre on Wednesday, is a screen play without a villain. Another noted feature of it is that you can use your own discretion in picking the hero. Nobody will dispute that the fiery Charmaine, played by Dolores Del Rio, is-a more than adequate heroine, and that Privates Kiper and Lipinsky supply all the comedy necessary. 'But who’s the hero? Is it Captain Flagg, the hard-boiled Marine who uses profanity by preference, gets gorgeously drunk at Bar-le-Duc, and leads his men into battle as light-heartedly as though he were going on a picnic? Or is it 'Sergeant Quirt, the rough and blustering leatherneck, who knows all the card tricks in the deck, steals his superior officer’s sweethearts when lie gets a chance, and takes his war as a matter of course? Prices 1/- and 2/-. Children half price.
