He congratulated the ladies on the way in which they had carried on since the Society’s inception, and paid a tribute to the work of the hon- sec., Mrs. R. McMurray. He suggested that the group system for raising funds be again adopted for the coming year. Air. '.Christie congratulated the ladies on the excellent financial position. The Advisory Board had not been able to do much as yet, hut would do their best to # forward the interests of the Society in the future.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The Advisory Board, Messrs M. E. Perreau, D. Christie and Wm. Trueman were re-elected. Airs. Robinson thanked the Board for their help in the matter of obtaining permanent offices. Airs. McMurray stated that she regretted that the new offijCjes were not an accomplished fact before she left Foxton. But with the Advisory Board’s help she felt sure this object would be attained. She wished to thank Mr. W. Trueman (hon. auditor), who had been very helpful to the Society. Air. Perreau returned thanks for his re-election and stated that he hoped to see the Society comfortably housed before the end of the year. Election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President: Mrs. F. Robinson; vice-presidents: Mesdames D. Christie, W. Trueman and F. Proctor; committee: Mesdames J. M. Barr, A. The annual report was as follows: —

Your committee has pleasure in presenting their sixth annual report- and statement of accounts for the year ending Alarch 31st, 1928. During the past year the work has continued to show a steady increase. The following figures give an indication of the year’s work, the previous year’s figures are in parenthesis: Visits by Nurse to office 53 (52); visits by Nurse to homes 130 (148); adults visits to office 1076 (053) 1 babies and older children to office 1457 (789); new cases 35 (39); total visits to office 2533 (1442), increase 1091. Of the new cases, 19 were naturally fed, two partially artificial and 11 artificially. Expectant mothers three. The increase in the number o

visits to the office indicates that the mothers realise the benefit of keeping in regular touch with the Nurse. The committee feel that the increasing interest shown by the mothers is mainly due to Sister Kearns, who has, for the greater part of the year, been the visiting Nurse. Nurse Fairweatlier, who has been making the visits to Foxton for the past three months, is deservedly popular. The visits to the office for March last constitute a. record for any one month. One hundred and fifty-six pounds of emulsion were sold during the year as against 981bs. for the pre-. vious .year. We find it less expensive’ and much more convenient to he able to procure our emulsion from the Karitane Products Society, Wellington, than from Dunedin, as previously. Following on a resolution passed at last annual meeting, an Advisory Board was appointed in 1 .June, 1927. The members are Messrs M. E. Perreau D. Christie, and W. Trueman. The Board has shown practical interest in arranging details in connection with the proposed new Plunket offices, which we hope will be an accomplished fact in the near future. On December 121)1, Sister Gillies (organiser of the Victorian Bush Nursing Association), accompanied by Miss Mary King, paid a brief visit to Foxton. The hon. membership for the year shows an increase of 50 per cent. The subscriptions amounted to £9 10s Od for the year, as against £6 10s Od for the previous year. Committee meetings have been well attended. The group system for raising funds was again successfully carried out. During the year Mesdames F. Rimmer and H. Downes, both members of long standing on the committee, left the district. We wish to record our appreciation of their work. Mr. I. Corn’s weighing machine, the proceeds of which are donated to the Society, has again proved a welcome source of income, realising the amount of £5 3s 5Ad. Contributions to the office box have increased from £2 19s 8d for 1927 to £6 5s sid for 1928. Your committee wish to thank Alessrs Madge Bros, for free conveyance for the Nurse; Airs. W. Kirkland, lunch for visiting Nurse; Mrs. J. Walls and Mrs. Faivey fol- morning and afternoon teas; Air. 11. Osborne for carting gratis; Air. J, Toms bicycle repairs gratis; Air, W. Trueman, auditor; and the Pressl BALANCE-SHEET. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £B2 11s 3Jd, which included a. credit balance carried over from the previous _ year of £6O 15s ssd. Group efforts £6O 0s Bd, donations £ls 12s lid, ann.ua! subs. £9 15§ od. The expenses totalled £B4 12s Bd, plus the usual half year’s salary and rent due in May next, amounting to £27 5s Od.
