THRILLING LAUNCH EXPERIENCE.

Messrs Alex. Ross asd Boyne experienced .some thrills in the launch Huia, which they navigated down the coast from Wanganui on Saturday. When off the barj trouble was experienced with the mechanism, and the sails had to be hoisted. Captain Larsen crossed the bar in the pilot launch and towed the Huia into the river.

On Monday Messrs Ross and Boyne crossed the bar to proceed to Wanganui. They experienced heavy weather, and a stiff westerly, which impeded the progress of the launch. On Tuesday evening at about 8 o’clock they decided to beach the launch and headed her for the shore about four miles north of the bar. The launch was taken on the crest of a wave and beached, the only mishap being a broken rudder. Their experiences were thrilling and the two men were fortunate in getting off so lightly.
