CHARITABLE AID.
“Charitable aid v.u Palmerston N. for the month has been fairly high for this time of the year,” reported the charitable aid officer (Mr F.Aisher) to a meeting of the Palmerston N. Hospital Board on Thursday. During the month 93 persons had been assisted with 221 rations, at a cost of £57 5/-, compared with 42 persons, 96 rations, at a cost of £26 16/- in March, 1927. The following list of casuals h’ad been assisted in the various parts of " the district, with figures for 1927 given in parenthesis: —Palmerston North, 14 at £3 10/- (17 at £4). Feilding 3 at 18/- (5 at £1 4/6); Foxton 2 at 4/- ( —i; Shannon —(4at £1 2/6); Levin 3at £1 2/6 (3 at 19/6) and Otaki - (1 at 7/6).
