BOWLING.

The annual Easter bowling tournament conducted by the Manawatu Bowling Centre concluded yesterday on the greens of the Palmerston N. club. This year the Centre’s tournament was incorporated with the North Island championships. The greens were playing splendidly and weather conditions, though sultry, were quite favourable for play. The two semi-final games which had been adjourned on Tuesday at the 13th head were completed, leaving a rink from the Victoria Club (Wellington) opposed to a Wanganui rink. The final saw the Wellington players secure the championship by a. substantial margin. In the semi-final games Nash (Palmerston N.) concluded his ghme with Braekenridge (Victoria) which had been adjourned the previous day. The final scores showed Braekenridge with a lead of only one point, 19 —18.

tSimmons (Wanganui) reached •* the final, beating Pickering (Woodville) 22 to 14. The final game was contested between Braekenridge land Simnjoqs, the former ultimately winning the Championship. A very interesting and keenly fought game eventuated but the Victoria rink ,taking a good lead, soon after the commencement, maintained Gfi upper hand throughout to win by the substantial margin of 28 —13. NYE FERNS MATCH. On the local green yesterday afternoon, a further game for the Nye Ferns was played between the holders, Walker’s rink, and a challenging rink skipped by Heyes. The result was that the holders retained their right of possession, the details being as follows: — ■Spring, Parkin, Wloods, Walker (.s) 20, P. Easton, Thomson, Ross, Heyes (s) 17. • •
