FARMER KILLED IN MOTOR SMASH.

Napier, Last Night. Thomas Robertson, farm manager of Puketapu, was travelling from Waipukurau to Napier in a ’ three-seater car this evening, when he crashed through a fence and went down a bank on the Te Aute lull. Robertson was killed. , No further details are available x at present. T\V|o MEN KNOCKED DOWN BY TAXI. ONE DIES; OTHER SEVERELY INJURED. Wellington, Last Night. Alfred Harold Lucas, of 15 Muller Road, Blenheim, and C. Ross, of 76a Constable Street, Newtown, were admitted to the hospital shortly after six o’clock to-night suffering from severe injuries rece- # ived through being knocked down by a taxi cab in Courtenay Plac.e. Lucas, whose skull was fractured, died at 8 o’clock. Ross, who is suffering from , severe injuries to the ribs and the shoulder, is not in a very serious condition. So far as can be ascertained, both men were crossing the road . during the heavy downpour, and y walked into the taxi.
