NORTH ISLAND .CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT.
The North Island Championship Bowling Tournament was commenced at Palmerston N. on Good Friday, and continued on Saturday and yesterday. Very enjoyable games, with many close finishes and occasionally a runaway victory, were played. Interest in the score board increased as the final round of the elimination play was « approached yesterday, there.being much speculation as to who would be in the final. Two rinks went through without any losses, while only one lost all nine games (Havler’s rink, Ohakunej. Two had eight wins and one loss each. Foxton Club 'was represented by one rink, consisting of Ross, Christie, Thomson (s), who, playing in Section D, had 5 wins and 4 losses. The finalists are: —Brackenridge (Victoria), Crump (Palmerston North), Johnson ((Terrace End), Nash (Palmerston North), Wardrop (Woodville), Simmonds (Wanganui), pole (Victoria), Conder (Island Bay), Wilton (Palmerston North), Ramsay (Palmerston North), Martin (Fitzroy), Smith (Takaro). ' '! The draw .for to-day’s post section play, is as follows:—Byes, Martin, (Crump, Simmonds and Brackenridge. First round. —Pole plays Nash, Ramsay plays Wilton, Smith plays Johnson, Wardrop plays Condon. Second round. —Nash or Pole plays Ramsay or Wilton; Wardrop or Condon plays plays Johnson or Smith. Crump plays Brackenridge; Martin plays Simmonds. Twenty-one heads will be played.
On the local green to-morrow afternoon it is proposed to hold a pairs tourney.
