+ LIGHT MACHINES TO BE PURCHASED.
CONDITIONS FOR CLUBS. Wellington, April 4. Conditions for aero clubs have seen approved by Cabinet, and it .as been decided to purchase forthwith eight D.H. (Moth) aeroplanes, four to be issued on loan, two to Auckland and two to Christchurch, and the remaining four to be used as training machines at the Wigram Aerodrome.
The conditions stipulate provision for repair and maintenance of all aircraft, arrangements for qualified instructors and a roll of at least 30 members who are prepared to qualify as pilots. Aerodrome and hangar accommodation at Auckland and Christchurch will be available free of charge to approved clubs or associations, The Defence Department will grant to each approved club or association £25 in respect of each member who qualifies ab initio for a private pilot’s certificate, such grant not to exceed £SOO during one financial year. No one not a member of the club or association is to be carried as a passenger and no flights are to be made for hire or reward. Periodical inspection of aircraft and equipment are provided for. Neither the King, his officers, nor any department of the Government shall be under liability in respect of any loss, damage or injury to persons or property incurred during fiying operations. Each agreement with a club or association will terminate on the expiration of five years from April Ist, 1928, or sooner if cireumstanfies warrant this being done. Clubs and associations are to give bonds lo make good any damage.
