CAR GOES OVER BANK.

OCCUPANTS LUCKY ESCAPE.

Hawera, April 4. A remarkable escape from, fatal injury was experienced by Mrs M. J. Cassidy and her husband, of Auckland early this afternoon. Driving a sedan car, Mrs Cassidy was descending the Tongahoe Hill, going south on the main road near Hawera, when she failed to negotiate a sharp bend and the ear crashed through a fence and somersaulted for 100 feet down a steep bank, finally plunging into the river. Mrs Cassidy, who was imprisoned under the water, was extricated with difficulty and sent to hospital suffering from head injuries and shock. H,er husband escaped with severe bruises.
