ANNUAL MEETING MANAWHE-

NUA COUNCIL

The annual meeting- of the District Councils’ delegates to the Ma-nawatu-Horowhenua Rugby Union was held at Levin on Thursday evening.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron: Mr. H. F. Gibbons (re-elected); president: Mr. W. Hannan; vicepresidents: Messrs A. M. Ongley and J. W. Proctor; treasurer: Mr. J. R. Hardie; secretary: Mr. C. D. Fraser; management committee; Messrs E. M. Ryder, A. Richards, 11. Hutchins (Horowhenua), K. Eglinton, H. Crawford, J. A. Colqulioun, and T. Collins (Manawatu); vice-president to the New Zealand Rugby Union: Mr. W. Hannan; auditor: Mr. K. Eglinton; selectors, to be nominated by l the respective councils; delegates to New Zealand Rugby Union: Messrs J. A. Colqulioun and W. Hannan.

The secretary’s salary was increased to £l4O per annum to be apportioned in sums of £75 from the combined union and £55 from the Manawatu District Council. The secretary intimated that there were four matches which the combined team would be expected to play on the southern tour this year, namely against Canterbury, South Canterbury, Otago, and Southland. It was decided that a southern tour, be undertaken and that the delegates endeavour to arrange that the matches be commenced not earlier than the middle of Augqst. The secretary said that North Island matches which the combined team might lie expected to play at home, as indicated by last season’s programme, would be against Wellington, Waikato, < Auckland, King Country, Hawke’s Bay, and Waivarapa. It was decided to procure a new set of jerseys and stockings for this season.
