S.M. COURT.

MONTHLY SITTING. The usual monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held in tKb Courthouse yesterday, presided over by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. ILLEGAL TAKING OF WHITEBAIT. James Collins was charged by the police with illegally taking whitebait from the drain at Manawatu Heads on November 7th last year. Constable Owen, Inspector of Sea Fisheries, gave evidence that on the date in question, accompanied by Constable Bell, he visited the drain and found Collins fishing for whitebait. Before a summong. could be served on him lie left the district and was only recently located out of Palmerston North. Three days prior to Collins being caught eight persons were fined at the local courthouse for fishing in the drain and accused, who was a resident of Manawatu Heads, was well aware that he was committing an offence. Accused who did not appear, was convicted and fined £5 with costs 18/-. , ! Affiliation case. In an affiliation ease, Ernest Graham was ordered to pay 10/per week maintenance in the meantime, costs to be fixed at the next sitting of the Court. Evidence was tendered by counsel for plaintiff (Mr. Bergin), and the mother of the child. CIVIL CASES. S'orensen v. A. Albrey, £2 16s 7d, costs £1 11s 6d; A. E. Collins v. C. Robinson, £4, costs £1 5s fid; same : v. W. Coley, £7 7s Od, costs £1 12s 6d. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. Maika was ordered to pay the Manawatu Rabbit Board £2 12s 3d forthwith, in default four days imprisonment. Wera Hoterini was ordered to pay Pahi Alidone £2 Os 6d forthwith, in default four days imprisonment. J. O’Reilly was ordered to pay E. M. Wyllie £5 10s fid plus costs.ls/6 forthwith, in default seven days. Huia Rangi was ordered to pay J. S. Moir £2 11s 9d, in default four days. C. Robinson was ordered to pay J. S. Moir £8 18s lOd and costs 15/6 forthwith, in default seven days. J. Dwyer was ordered to pay J. S. Moir £7 13s 2d with costs 15/6 forthwith, in default seven days. R,. Goodall was ordered to pay A. Steer £6 Os lOd with costs 15/6 forthwith, in default seven days 1C Pearce was ordered to pay E. D. M. W,hibley £43 12s 6d with costs £1 11s 6d forthwith, in default 28 days.
