CONTINUOUS TELEPHONE SERVICE.
♦— TO OPERATE PROM TUESDAY NEXT. From Tuesday next Foxton telephone subscribers will be placed upon the same footing in respect to telephone communication as all the large centres throughout the Dominion for on that day a continuous ‘system will be instituted locally. The local Chamber of Commerce has been agitating and working to this end for some time past and are to be congratulated upon the consummation of their efforts. The continuous service will, of course, mean a slight increase in the annual charge, but . this will be more than compensated for by the privileges enjoyed. The new service will necessitate an extra attendant and Mr. L. Barrow, of Palmerston North, has been appointed to the position.
