MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Manawatu County Council was held in Sanson on Tuesday presided over by Mr. Wl E. Barber (Chairman). Also present were Councillors H. H. Hunt, J. Boyce, D. W. Reid, W. E. Pearce, J. H. Perrett and J. McKelvie. CORRESPONDENCE. , From the Public Works Department advising that in future a. definite resolution must be passed by the council in regard to the maintenance of all roads metalled and of Government grants. From Horowhenua County Council asking whether the council would be agreeable to tenders being called for the purchase of the old Manawatu Bridge, including da* molition and removal. —'Agreed to. From Oroua Downs Drainage Board advising that it would cost £llO to clean out the drains in the Board’s area—the council agreed to the drainage programme provided no expenditure was incurred in connection with the Pukepuke lake outlet.
From F. S. Easton, Foxton, asking the council for a grant of £2O towards the cost of sanding the road down to his property on mile drain. —Referred to the Engineer. TREASURER’S REPORT. The treasurer reported as follows: —County Fund Account debit £3214/2/5, Main Highways Loan Account credit £3214/2/5, Main Highways Loan Account cdt. £641 8/7, Imprest Account cdt. £75, Loan Account cdt.£l4lo/4/l. The position of riding accounts was reported on as follows: Sandon cdt. £ll3 9/10, Mt. Stewart cdt. £l5B/8/4, Waitohi cdt.' £l2B/17/1, Rongotea cdt. £l7/7/11, Carnarvon cdt. £B6 14/1, Kawakawa dbt. £lB/19/-., A wall on dbt. £2/18/8. —Received. TRAMWAY MANAGER’S REPORT
The Tramway Manager reported as follows on the Sanson tramway : The chief items of traffic for the month of February were: Grain 7J tnos, minerals and manure 189 f tons, general merchandise 40f tons, stock 73 trucks, metal and sand 200 trucks, wool 22 bales, eggs 47 crates, flax 11 trucks, timber 8,700 sup. feet. Fares amounted to £l/1/7. The accounts show a debit balance of £4/4/10 for the month’s working.—Received. RATE ROLL ALTERATIONS . The following alterations to the County rate roll were approved of: Est. T. Harris to Jas. Telford Lot 1 sec. 6 and sec. 7 Carnarvon; Chas. Dahl to Arthur Maden, secs. 181 and 183 Rongotea; Est. A. S. Easton to Public Trustee, secs. 385, 386, 415, 416 Foxton; sec. 66 and pt. 60 blk. XI Te Kawau S.D.; see. 433 and pt. rural sec. 533 Foxton; pt. rural sec. 426 Foxton and pt. blk., II Whirokino; rural sec. 532 and pt. 423 town of Foxton; rural see. 264 town of Foxton; rural sec. 230, pt, 231, 377, pt. 378, 379/382 and '398/409 Foxton.
