PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held on Monday, presided over by Mrs. F. Robinson (President). Also present were Mesdamcs C. A. Pearson, W. 11. W|alton, A. Baker, F. Proctor, F. G. Yeo, J. Chrystall, D. R. Barron, and R- McMurray (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdamcs Ogilvy, A. Ross, Bergin, Heasman, and C. Edwards. The nurse’s monthly report showel visits to Foxton 4, to homes 4, adults to office 82, babies 75, and older children 40, a total of 197. Mrs. F. G. Yeo, a new member, was extended a welcome to the Society by the; President.

The resignation of Mrs. I. Corn was accepted with regret, Mrs. W. 11. Smith, of Moutoa, being elected to the vacancy. The sum of £23 7s 6d was received from No. 3 group (Mesdames Barron, Roore, Chrystall, Stevenson, and G. Smith, and Yeo), and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the committee for its effort. A donation of £1 was received from Mr. J. McKnight with thanks.

Accounts totalling 14/11 were passed for payment. Mrs. Robinson took the opportunity of thanking the committee, members of the Dorcas and Girl Guides for their good wishes and the gift of a gold-mounted fountain pen on the occasion of the celebration of her golden wedding. She appreciated very much the kindly thought which had prompted the gift.- She also referred to the willing assistance always accorded iier in her capacity as President. The co-operation of members had made her duties very light.

Mesdames F. Proctor and R. MeMurray (visitors for the past month) reported on verious matters. As a result of numerous calls made on the Nurse’s time she had great difficulty in finishing her work before the bus left, and she would greatly appreciate mothers making their cal's as early as possible. It was decided to confer with the nurse re closing the office at 4.30 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. as at present.

Mesdames Walton and Baker were appointed visitors for the ensuing month, and Mesdames F. Proctor and F. Robinson flower stewards.

The proceeds from Mr. Corn’s weighing machine were 8/8 and from the office box 10/5.
