DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting 6f the Foxton D. H. School Committee was held last ebening, presided over by Mr. J. K. Hornbl'ow (chairman). ‘There were also present Messrs G. Huntley, M. E. Perreau, John Ross, and R. Raugiheuea (hon. sec.) The chairman reported that the Minister i'or Education (Hon. R. A. Wright) had consented to open the new building for the secondary department, on Wednesday, March 28th, at 2.30 p.m. Those also taking part in the ceremony would be Messrs J. Linklater, M.P., J. A. Nash, M.P. (an ex-pupil of the school), W. Collins (chairman of the Wanganui Education Board), the Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau), and Mr. Hone McMillan (on behalf of the dinors of the land —the relatives of the late Ihakara Tukumaru). Further details in connection with the ceremony will be dealt with at a'la ter meeting. The Board’s architect (Mr. Hodge), submitted prices for a brass plate to commemorate the opening but the committee decided that owing to lack of funds the proposal be abandoned. It was ' pointed out that the Board would provide a memorial plate on the building in recognition of the gift of the land.
The balance-sheet for the financial year was presented and approved subject to audit. It was decided to obtain cost of die and manufacture of High school badges. Other matters of a routine nature were dealt with.
