FARMER’S NARROW ESCAPE FROM DEATH.

Mr. Keith Moody, working on Mr. C. H. Speirs’ farm, Shannon, had a nasty accident on Friday last. Mr. Moody was driving a tractor through a gateway, the iron slip rail of which was lying on the ground. Me had driven over the rail on several previous occasions without anything happening. On this occasion, however, the rail was picked up in the cheats of the back wheel and jammed Mr. Moody up against the steering column. The tractor was unfortunately in low gear, and before Mr. Moody . could stop the engine, the rail was bent into hairpin shape. Dr. Bell, >of Shannon, was im- - mediately summoned, and ordered the sufferer into Palmerston North Hospital where he is reported to be suffering from, internal injuries, but making good progress towards recovery.
