MORE ATHLETIC HONOURS
PRIMARY DIVISION WIN THE VILE SHIELD.
At Bulls on Saturday a team from the primary division of the local District High School maintained its alround championship standard by annexing the Vile Shield. The primary department are now the holders of the following trophies: Austin Banner for competition by all primary schools in the Horowhenua Rugby district; the McKelvie Shield for most points in running events competed for annually by primary schools throughout the district at the Sanson sports; the Hobson Shield for running events for primary schools, held annually at Levin; and the Vile Shield, competed for annually at the Bulls sports. Apart from these trophies the school last year produced the champion school boy swimmer in G. Hirini. VILE .SHIELD RESULTS. Boys under 10 years, 50 yards: Royce Evans (Foxton) 1, E. Donaldson (Rangiotu) 1, G. McIndoe (Marton D. H. S.) 2, Cliff Carmont (Foxton) 3. Girls under 12 years, 75 yards: Elsie Thompson (Foxton) 1, Mina Botaroff (Foxton) 2, E. Low (Marton D.H.S.) 3. Boys under 15 years, 100 yards: Bert Coley (Foxton) 1, Leicester Thompson' (Foxton) 2, L. Pedersen (■Ohakea)" 3. Girls under 15 years, 100 yards: M. Atwell (Marton D. H. S.) 1, A. Gimblett (Rangiotu) 2, M. Ellery (Bulls) 3. Boys under 15 years, 220 yards: Bert Coley (Foxton) 1, Russell Stokes (Foxton) 2, L. Pedersen (Ohakea) 3. Girls’ three-legged race, 100 yards: Rangiotu 1, Rangiotu 2, Marton D. H. S. 3. Boys’ three-legged race, 100 yards: Marton Junction 1, Marton Junction 2, Foxton (Thompson and Stokes) 3. Boys under 12 years relay race, each runner 110 yards: Rangiotu 1, Foxton (C. Carmont, €. Chrystall, R. Howe, L. Williams) 2, Marton D. H.' S. 3. A Girls under 12 years relay race, 55 yards each: Rangiotu 1, Marton D. H. S. 2, Marton Junction 3. Boys’ relay race 15 years, 110 yards each: Rangiotu 1, Marton Junction 2, Foxton (Coley, Stokes, , Lockwood, Thompson )3. Girls’ relay under 15 years, 110 yards each: Ran)giotu 1, Foxton (R. Munn, M. Stevenson, J. Coley, M. King) 2, Marton D. H. S. 3. Points for Shield. —Foxton 41,. Rangiotu 38, Marton D. H. S. 29, Marton Junction 13, Bulls 5, Ohakea 4. At the conclusion of the sports, in presenting the Shield, Mr. Vile referred to the fine sporting record of the Foxton School in winning three running shields. He complimented the school and the teachers on turning out such a fine team, and hoped that next year they would be back to defend the shield. Mr. Procter, in accepting the shield, paid a special tribute to the Rangiotu team, which, although only a small school, had run Foxton so close. The Foxton team had certainly had a very enjoyable day, and would be back next year to run for the shield again. He called for three cheers for Mr. Vile, the donor of the shield, and three cheers for the other competitors. The Foxton team desire to thank Mr. J. Coley and Mr. G. F. Smith for donations to the sports fund. The following is the team which were successful in winning the. Shield: — Girls: Rosie Munn, Sylvia Williams, Coley, May McKnight, Madge King, Connie Robinson, El--sie Thompson, Maggie Stevenson, Nina Botaroff, Flo Roore, Nancy Chrystall, Joan Ban-on; boys: Royce Evans, Henry Robinson, Colin Chrystall,. Roley Howe, Cliff Carmont, Lance > Williams, Bert Lockwood, Russell Stokes, Leicester Thompson, Bert Coley.
