Welcome intelligence came from the Public Works Department’s office at'Mangahao on Tuesday, when the'following telegram relating to the hydro-electric position was received from Mr. I. R. Robinson, En-gineer-in- Chief, by Mr. P. W. Goldsmith, secretary of the Horowhenua Power Board: —

“Slight rise in dam. You may remove the most irksome restrictions, but there is still need for general economy.. Would suggest putting on street fights only, but emphasise to public need for economy.”
