BENEFIT CONCERT.
TOWN HALL, TO-NIGHT,
There should be a record attendance at the Town Hall to-night on the occasion of the benefit concert arranged by the men of the 6th Battery (Napier), now encarbped on the racecourse, in aid of Jack Shortt, who lost his eyesight as the result of an explosion of a “dud” shell. Such a deserving cause should appeal to all and the Battery is to be congratulated on its thoughtfulness. The programme promises to be of a high standard. The men of the 6th Battery are contributing a number of items and have some really fine talent. Their orchestra is well worth hearing. The camp items will be supplemented by items from well-known local artists. The. men of th sth Battery (Wellington), which were in camp last week were unable, owing to counter attractions, to organise a concert for the above object, but each member is forwarding a contribution towards the fund.
