FOXTON’S WATER SUPPLY.
WHAT AHGHT HAVE BEEN.
The history of- Foxton’s water supply loan proposals was resurrected at last night’s Borough Council meeting by Cr. Thompson. He said that many years ago an agitation had been on foot locally to have Foxton’s water supply brought over from Alangahao. The fallacy of such a proposition was now very evident. There was not a drop of water available at Shannon for such a purpose and had -Foxton been dependent upon such a scheme it would to-day have been without a supply of water. Besides this there would also have been trouble with the pipe line over the river at the. Shannon Bridge, which would have been at the mercy of every big flood. Foxton was to be congratulated on its present water supply.. • ,
The Mayor: The past Councillors are to be congratulated on their foresight p haviiig decided on an artesian supply.
