ENTERTAINMENT.

In the Metro - Gold wyn -May er special production, “The Fire Brigade,’’ which will be screened at the Town Hall to-night, in one of the many notable incidents is the jump made by the hero from the blazing roof of a five-storey orphanage, with a child in his arms, to the canvas held for him by his fellow firemen below. The biggest .fire scenes ever produced on the screen are shown in the picture, with a mighty line of twenty engines, elaborate fire-fighting accessories, and an army of men. The fire ultimately rages over a whole block of eleven buildings. The amazing fire scene is the crowning incident of an unusually gripping story, dealing with the trickery of James Corwin, a millionaire, who secretly finances the Wainwright Building Company. Corwin poses as a public benefactor until the hero, Terry O’Neil, brings him to justice, changing public admiration .to overhelming fury. In the meantime, however, Terry falls in love with Corwin’s beautiful daughter Helen, played by May McAvoy, and the denouement which O’Neil brings about in the course of his duty is also responsible for the humiliation of the adoring daughter. Also “Sting of Stings” (comedy), News and Hamilton (Scenic). Usual prices. Monday night, J. Farrell McDonald in “Rich But Honest.”
