FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Fox ton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club’s Office last night, presided over by Mr. W. T. Jewell (President). Also present were Messi’s E. Parkin, W. Ross, S. Barber, R. Bryant, F. Woods, R. Warwick, D. Christie, G. F. Smith, C. Pearson, E. Goodman, and the secretary (Mr. R-. McMurray). An apology for absence were received from Messrs D. Barron and W. Jewell jnr.

The object of the meeting was to discuss the proposition of holding a horse meeting locally at an early date.

The President reported on an interview with the Defence Department in connection with the use of the racecourse for the meeting during the military camp period. The Department was quite willing to cooperate in any way with the project. The President was of opinion that the date was now too late to hold a meeting this year. He regretted this fact as it was the Association’s duty to cater for all sports and a permit had been obtained to hold the meeting. The license, however, would stand good for some time. -Mr. 1 Woods said that it would not be possible to hold a meeting this month.

The general feeling of the meeting was against holding a meeting this year owing to the lateness of the season and it was decided to postpone the scheme this year. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee at the annual\ineeting to go into the matter.

It was decided that in future meetings be held on the third Monday in each month.
