“DEVIL’S ISLAND.”
“Devil’s Island,” a Master Picture, which will be shown at the Town Hall to-night is the first motion picture ever made with the French penal settlement at Devil’s Island for its background. The story concerns the struggle of Jeanette, wife of a< “Devil’s Island” convict, to win freedom and fame for the son that is born to live a prisoner. The dauntless courage of the mother in the face of apparently unsurniountable obstacles is a revelation of mother love that finds its outlet in a manner new to the screen. Historically, “Devil’s Island” presents an interesting and accurate picture of the little known French penal settlement, that has been before the public eye since the sensational conviction of Captain Dreyfus more than a generation ago. “Devil’s Island” is a picture you cannot afford to miss. Pauline Frederick plays the leading role. Also “Kid Tricks” (comedy), News and Scenic. Usual prices. Monday’s feature “Daughters Who Pay” is a dramatic tale of the operations of the Secret Service in a large American city. Marguerite de la Motte and John Bowers are the featured players.
