HOTELS AND SHOPS DBS- * TROYED. Reefton, February 2. The most disastrous fire in the history of Reefton broke out at 2.30 this morning, when the premises' of Stevenson’s Hotel, owned and. occupied by Fred Keating, W. J. Morris (draper), W. J. Duff (chemist), Miss Sullivan (fruiterer), owned by T. H. Lee, City Hotel (owned and occupied by B. P. McMahon), F. Bonifacio (plumber), J. W. 'Chalks, and Bourke’s Hotel (P. Sullivan), and a building owned by E. Williams, on the opposite side of Broadway, were destroyed.
The heat was intense, and everything was dry like tinder. The buildings at the rear and the stables at the rear of Stevenson’s and the City hotels were”destroyed.
