CUTTING OUT STREET LIGHTS.

TO RELIEVE MANGAHAO LOAD.

The Horowhenua Electric Power Board has issued the following letter to local bodies: —

“Sti’eet Lighting: Through the serious position which has arisen at Mangahao, the Public Works Department insists that all the Boards throughout the district reduce their loads by 20 per cent, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 pan. “To help to this end it has been' decided, for the present at anyrate, to cut out all street lighting. It is hoped that while the moonlight is favourable no very serious inconvenience will be caused to the boroughs and townships throughout the Board’s district. “When the weather breaks and rain comes, the whole situation will be relieved and normal conditions can be brought about.”
