CARS COLLIDE NEAR MARTON.
THREE MEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. .
Marton, February 3. A serious motor collision involving severe injuries to James Tur- * ner, Jack Cooper, and Reginald *o* Cook, three employees of the CoL onial Sales Company, Auckland, occurred at an intersection on the borough north boundary last night. A small ear driven by H. J. Thompson was proceeding along the main street. Mr. Thompson obser- ’ ved another car coming out of a side road) and he slowed down. The other vehicle careered across at great speed, leaving a cloud of dust. Simultaneously, a third car, driven' by A. Forno, of Auckland, came from the direction in which, A the second car had gone, and j£crashed into the first car, causing it to swing completely round. Mr. Thompson had a remarkable escape, but Mr. Forno’s ear went on for about twenty yards and then somersaulted, pinning the five occupants beneath. The three men named were found to be severely injured, and were conveyed to the hospital. Forno and Stanley Holthouse escaped with minor bruises. Their car was almost totally wrecked.
