Mrs. Parfitt, of Picton, who is a well-known member of the Picton Hospital Board, is at present on a visit to her son in Foxton.
The friends of Mr. J. Mathers will be pleased to learn that lie lias now returned from the Palmerston North Hospital. The death is announced at Rotorua of Mr. Richard Childey Reynolds, a pioneer farmer of Cambridge, who with his brother Henry established the first butter factory in the Dominion and exported to London the first butter for sale. He was a great cattle breeder and judge >pf stock. He leaves three sons and six married daughters. He died at 6 .a .in'. yesterday. The death took place at Awahuri on Saturday of Mr. George Hickford, aged 63 years. Up to the time of his death Mr. Hiekford was engineer to the Manawatu County Council, with which body lie rad been associated for over 30 jAars. He was well-known throughout this district, and highly esteemed. As a servant of the County, he was faithful and conscientious in the discrarge of his duty. The highways scheme added to his responsibilities, and-this in a measure undermined his health. He leaves a widow and a family of five sons — Stanley, Gordon, Charles, Leslie and Ricrard, all of Awahuri, and one married daughter, Mrs. Schofield, of Havelock North, to mourn their loss.
