THE RANGITIKEI BRIDGE.

REPAIR WORK NECESSARY. The state of the bridge across the Rangitikei River at Bulls was referred to at the Rangitikei County Council meeting yesterday, when the county engineer reported that after further inspection he did not consider it advisable to delay reconstruction work longer. The estimated cost of repairs to the bridge as approved by Main Highways Board was £6OOO, which included repairs to piers, reassembling and strengthening stringers and renewing deck in brush-box, with a bitumenous surface. It was eventually resolved to confer with Manawatu County Council with the object of placing a united proposal before the Highways Board.

Certain repairs and reconstruction work are necessary, and the suggestion that the structure be widened will come forward for attention.
