FOXTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

■ ♦ MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce was held in Ross’s Rooms on Thursday night, presided over by the President (Mr. J. K. Hornblow). Also present were Messrs F.. Mason, F. Raikes, D. Barron, M. E. Perreau, J. Thomson, I. Corn, A. E. Scott, D. Christie, H. Hornblow, J. Ross,, A. Alsop, R. Speirs, R. McMurray and the secretary (Mr. R. Hornblow). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs F. G. Yeo, C. Pearson, 11. Osborne, J. Newton, D. Ball. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows :

From the Publicity Department enclosing publicity circulars. —Received. From the Associated Chambers enclosing copy of minutes of executive meeting. —Received.

CAMPING AREAS. Mr. McMurray suggested that notices should be erected about the town directing motorists to the Victoria Park camping ground. A resident had ‘offered to' erect a chimney on the ground if the bricks were pi’ovided. This offer should be taken advantage of. , It was decided to ask the Automobile Association to erect a suitable notice in Foxton directing motorists to the camping ground. The Mayor stated that the Council would supply the necessary bricks for the chimney and this work would be put in hand immediately.

It was also decided to endeavour to have notice boards erected in Foxton to direct motorists to the Beach. THE WATER SUPPLY. The President made reference to Foxton’s excellent waiter supply, which, he said, had been a boon during the recent dry spell. There was always a. good pressure and plenty of water. The Council was to be complimented on its ample water supply. PUBLIC’ CONVENIENCES. It was decided to ask the Borough Council to consider the advisability of erecting public conveniences in Foxton. ADVERTISING THE SEASIDE. The Stationraaster (Mr. H. Hornblow), reported that since last meeting he had endeavoured to obtain suitable photos of the Foxton Beach to have reproduced in the Railway Department’s publicity books, but had been unsuccessful. However, he had written an article on the attractions of thelocal seaside which would be included in the publication. Mr. Hornblow was accorded a vote of thanks for his efforts. GENERAL. Accounts amounting to £3 were passed for payment.
