SWIMMING.
At the Manawatn Centre’s carnival, held at Palmerston North last night, the Foxton swimmers met with a good measure of success. Chief interest centred on the 100 yards championship of the Manaw r atu Centre, which was won by W. Harrison (Foxton), who broke the centre’s Teeord in his strong easy style. In the boys 66 2-3 yards handicap, G. Hirini (3 sec.) annexed Ist place. Time 51 l-ssee. •Inf his first heat of the 100 yards men’s Manawatu Centre Championship, Harrison covered the distance in 69 3-5 sec. In the final Harrison won easily breaking the centre record by covering the distance in 66 3-5 see. In the men’s 66 2-3 yards handicap, Harrison (scr.) secured Ist place in his heat, time 47 4-5 sec., but was placed third in the, final after a great fight with C. McKenzie for 2nd place. Foxton was also represented in the Flying Squadron Relay race by Messrs T. Fuller, W. Harrison, G. Hirini and Marshall, finishing third.
