MAIN HIGHWAYS AND ABUSE.
For months past complaints, verbal and otherwise, have reached us —some more forceful than polite—in connection Avith the rough surface of the Sanson-Foxton and Foxton Rangiotu higliAvays. One irate motorist in stressing a complaint spoke to our representative as if we were responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the highways. We referred him and his grievance to the chairman of the local Ibody concerned. We 'have A'oiced Complaints, in the public interest; of the condition of these roads until, Ave presume, the County Council are “fed up” Avith them. We would suggest that the chairman of the County publish a statedent setting forth the reasons .why the roads are like they are and what steps are to be taken in the future to effect an improvement in order that such document can be submitted to complainants and thus relieve us of having to listen to outbursts ol: abusive oratory, the cause of Avhich we are in no Avay responsible.
