FOXTON SWIMMING CLUB.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Foxton Swimming Club was held in Walls’ Rooms last evening, presided over by the President (Mr. H. Hutchins). Also present were Mrs. J. McKenna, Misses C. Walsh and B. Gower, and Messrs T. Fuller, R. Hornblow and the secretary (Mr. D. R. Barron). A letter was , received from the Royal Life Saving Society enclosing posters in connection with life saving and offering to send a representative to Foxton for the purpose of giving instruction in lifesaving methods. —Received. The Centre wrote stating that it would not be possible to grant the Club the Bth February for a swimming carnival and suggesting that the club hold its fixture on the 14th January. —It was decided to hold the carnival over until a later date. The resignation of Mr. G. Perreau from the committee was accepted with regret. It was decided that Mr. Hutchins represent the club at the executive meeting to be held in Palmerston North to-night. It was decided to hold the usual sports meeting on Thursday evening- • Accounts amounting to £2 10s 6d were passed for payment. The question of installing the electric light in the baths was discussed. A quote was received from one electrical firm to instal four 1000 c.p. lights for the sum of £l2, asy extras at 30/-.per point. At the conclusion of the meeting the matter was informally discussed with members of the Borough Council, who stated that the Council could not make any grant to the club, but were prepared to finance the carrying out of the scheme provided the club paid the money back.-,
