S.M. COURT.
MONTHLY SITTING. . The usual monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held yesterday before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. SEQUEL TO MOTOR SMASH. Donald McDougal, a commercial traveller of Palmerston North, was charged with driving a motor car on the wrong side of the road. Constable Owen stated the charge was laid under seciton 4, clause C. of the Police Offences Act. Accused was driving his car in the direction of Palmerston North from Foxton, and when negotiating the corner of Park and Victoria Streets, was on .the wrong side of the road with the result that an approaching car had to pull right off: the road to avoid a collision and in doing so collided with a stump and was bad ly damaged. Accused admitted that he was in the wrong at the time of the accident. McDougal, who was not present was convicted and fined £2 with costs 10/-. MILITARY DEFAULTERS. For failing to attend military parades Joseph Neame, of Bainesse, and James Andrew, of Foxton, were each convicted and fined 10/- with costs 12/-. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiff in the following civil undefended cases'. — C. Billings v. Hori George, 10/-, costs 15/-; R. Sorbie v. C. Nelson, £1 13s 3d, eosts 8/-; E. M. O’Reilly v. J. O’Reilly £4 Is Od, costs £1 3s 6d; J. S. Moir (assignee J. Madden) v. C. Robinson, £6 18s 4d, costs £1 16s 6d. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. 11. B. Stickle" was ordered to pay the Education Department £l2 14s 9d forthwith, in default 14 days imprisonment, warrant suspended so long as defendant pays £1 per month, first payment 7th January, 1928.
