THE RANGITIKEI STREET MOTOR FATALITY.
ERROR OF JUDGMENT. A •Coronial inquiry was held at Palmerston North on Tuesday, into the death of, Jack Fleming, aged 17, as the result of injuries received in a collision between a motor-cycle he was riding and a motor-car at the Featherston and Rangitikc-i Street intersection. Evidence was given that the deceased received severe internal injuries and that the case was hopeless. The opinion was also expressed that if the deceased had continued straight on, instead of swerving, he would have missed the car. The Coroner’s verdict was that the deceased met his death from shock and haemorrhage as the result of severe internal injuries. The Coroner commented that it had been a case of misadventure. . Both motorists appeared to have been approaching the intersection at more than a safe speed, but an error of judgment had apparently been made by Fleming turning to the left instead of keepinp straight on.
