The friends of Miss Florrie Cook, sister of Mr. 0. Cook, of Foxton, will regret to learn that she met with an accident at. Hamilton on Saturday, as a result of which she is 'now an inmate of the Hamilton Hospital where she lies in a serious condition. Miss Cook was crossing a street when she whs knocked down by a motor car, sustaining severe injuries. She was immediately removed to the hospital and on Xray examination made, but the full extent of her injuries is not yef, known.
The death occurred unexpectedly at Wellington on Saturday morning of Mr. Percy Oates Morgan, director of the New Zealand Geological Survey Department. - The late Mr. Morgan was born in Tasmania in 1867, but came to New Zealand with his parents at an early age. In 1905 Mr. Morgan was appointed to the staff of the .New Zealand Geological Survey, then lading reorganised under Dr. J. M. .Bell,.whom he followed as director in 1911. In 1915, in addition to his other duties, he took over the Under-Secretary-ship of the Mines Department. He is survived by a widow and four daughters.
