FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Foxtaon Horticultural Society was held in Ross’s Rooms last night, presided over by the President (Mr. D. Christie). Also present were Mesdames S. Easton, J. Barr, F. Procter, Ogilvy, McMurray, Misses B. Gower and J. Ross; Messrs'G. A. Tycr, J. Ross, N. Cresswell, T. Hughes, W. 11. Walton, R. Hornblow, and the secretary (Mr. W. 11. Nicholas).
Mr. F. Robinson, Lady’s Mile, wrote accepting the position as Patron to the Society, and enclosed a donation of £l/1/0. —Received with thanks. The balance-sheet in connection with the Summer Show disclosed a -small credit balance.
lii moving its adoption the President said that the Society was lucky to have a credit balance in connection with its show, as most of the other societies had failed in this connection.
Accounts amounting to £35/8/0, were passed for payment.
A donation of £2/2/0 was received from Mr. B. G. Giwer, the donor being accorded a vote of thanks.
The following were set up a committee to prepare a schedule for an Autumn Show to be held on March 19th: —Miss J. Ross, Mesdames F. Procter, S. Easton, the President and Secretary, and Mr. T. Hughes.
The President said it had been suggested to him that a small sweet pea show he held as the last show had been unfavourable for sweetpeas, the profits to he divided among local Churches or to go to the Plunket Society. Personally, he approved of the suggestion and was prepared to donate a trophy for the show.
The suggestion was referred to the Plunket Society.
