RACING.
THE ASHHURST MEETING. The annual meeting of the Ash : hurst-Pohangina Racing Club was held at Ashhurst yesterday in glorious weather. There was a very large attendance. The “tote” showed a slight decrease when eompared with last year. In 1926 £16,340 was put through the machine, while the takings yesterday were £15,456, which is £BB4 less. In the Siberia Hack, which was a two division race, one of the winners paid a dividend almost reaching three figures. There were only nine tickets on the winner. Hack Hurdles Handicap:—Vexatious 1, Kilburn 2, Chrissarto 3. Won by a length. Time 2.52 4-5. Maiden Stakes: —Tom Byrne 1, Shining Armour 2, Aurora Borealis 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.5. Pohangina Handicap:—Bonogne 1, Arrow Lad 2, Mireusonta 3. Won by heads each way. Time 1.17 2-5. Siberia Hack Handicap:—Miss Pat (Mr. F. J. Carmont’s) 1, Vast Acre 2, Lady Cynthia 3. Second Division: —Borsalene 1, Maui (Mr. V. E. Bryant’s) 2, Silver Tray 3. Won by a head. Time 1.17 2-5. Ashhurst Cup: —Anolo 1, Rowley 2, Kilmiss 3. Won by two lengths and a-half.. Time 2.12. Komako Hack Handicap: Kilmoyler 1, Kalos 2, Volplane 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.31 3-5. Raumai Handicap: —Horomea 1, Queen’s Choice 2, Bonogne 3. Won by three lengths. Time 1.31. Manawatu Gorge Handicap: Henna 1, Wanderlust 2, Excess 3. Won by a length. Time 1.46. Winner trained by F. J. Carmont.
