FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

GENERAL MEETING. A general meeting of the Foxton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club office last night, presided over by the President (Mr. W. T. Jewell). Also present were Messrs R. Bryant, D. Christie, D. Ogilvy, W. E. Barber, E. Parkin, F. Woods, and the secretary (Mr. R. McMurray). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs S. Barber, W. Jewell jnr., W. Ross, J. Thomson, and G. Smith. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : \ From D. Managh, asking for championship cup. —To be forwarded as soon as engraver has finished inscribing same. From Messrs Rogers and Hall, Wellington, stating that the Club’s canvas sign had been stored away and that the Wellington Club was contemplating holding a sports meeting at Foxton if possible, early next year. Mr. Ogilvy (secretary Foxton Racing Club) reported that he had received a communication from the Wellington Club asking permission to hold a motor sports on the Foxton racecourse in February. The military authority had the use of the course during February, however, and even so, the Club’s caretaker was not in favour of. another., motor sports meeting being held the track so late in the season. The letter was received. From the N.Z. Auto Cycle Union stating that the Club’s application for expense of a delegate to the annual conference had arrived too late to be included in the allocation. The yearly subscription of £4 4/was enclosed. —Received. Accounts amounting to £9 5/2, were passed for payment. The President reported that the Club had a credit balance of £6O odd in the bank with a further £l7 15/- to collect. This was a very satisfactory state of affairs. Apart from this there was £53 at fixed deposit in the Post Office Saving Bank. As no money would be wanted until the end of next year it would be a good proposition for the Club to take up a New Zealand bond. ■ Mr. Bryant favoured placing the surplus money \at fixed deposit in the bank. It was decided to place £IOO at fixed deposit at the bank for two years. The question of holding another meeting in February was discussed and the matter held over until next meeting.
