GAS WORKS.

SEPTEMBER WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of September was 384,000 ft., which, with the amount in the holder on September Ist., 15,100 ft., made a total of 399,10.0 ft. During the month 372,600 ft. were used by consumers, 20,000 ft. at the works and there was 11,600 ft. in the holder on October Ist., making a total of 404,200 ft. accounted for and leaving 5,100 ft., representing- 7.9 per cent., unaccounted for. Thirty-five tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,970 c.ft. of gas to tho ten, and producing 9 tons of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £196 1/11, and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £3B 14/10, heat and power £122 11/11, coke sales £l6 13/8, taxsales £1 14/-, weighing £3 15/6, fittings £9 12/9, miscellaneous £2 19/3. The expenditure for the month totalled £221 4/11 and were made up as follows: — Goal £9B 5/10, salaiies and wages £44 18/11, services and fittings £5 8/3, tools £1 6/4, printing and advertising £4 13/6, cartage and freight £1 19/10, miscellaneous £1 5/-, interest and sinking fund £63 7/3. —'Adopted. The manager reported that he took up his duties on the 22nd October. Three blocked services have been cleaned out and meter reading attended to. —Adopted.
