FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A> committee meeting of the Foxton Horticultural Society was held last evening, presided over by Mr. D. Christie (President). Also present were Messrs S. 11. Poole, 11. Hornblow, John Boss, W. Walton, N. Cresswell, J. Ross, Mesdames Barr, Moore, P. and R. Easton, Misses B. Gower, J. Ross, Speirs, and Hughes. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Procter and Ogilvy. Prior to commencing the business the President extended a welcome back to the Society to Mr. S. H. Poole. Mr. Poole suitably replied. Mr. F. Robinson was elected patron, vice Mr. A. S. Easton, deceased.

It was decided to loan the Society’s property to All Saints’ Ladies Guild for a sale of work." There was considerable discussion in reference to the loaning of (he Society’s property and it was decided that the resolution on the *.ooks to the effect that the secretary and president be empowered to loan the property if* they thought fit, stand, and that a clause be added preventing the property from being removed from the Town Hall.

It was decided to ask Mr J. Linklater, ALP., to open the Show, which will be held in the Town Hall on November 24th.

The schedule, with slight altera tions, was adopted.

It was decided to enforce the rule that exhibitors must be out of the hall at 11 a.m. sharp on the day of the show, to enable the judging to be done promptly.

It was resolved that one steward be appointed to each section, who shall not be an exhibitor. One or more stewards may be appointed who are exhibitors, but they must leave the hall with other exhibitors.

The following judges were appointed, subject to their acceptance: Roses and sweet peas: Mr Mason (Feilding); cut blooms: Mr Waugh (Wellington); decorative: Mrs Waugh (Wellington); cookery Mr Whitehead (Palmerston N.). * Stewards were elected as follows :

Roses and novice class: Rev. W. H. Walton; sweet peas: Mrs G. Honore; cut blooms: Mesdames Moore and C. Edwards and Mass Patterson; decorative: Miss Neylon; cookery: Mesdames F. Procter and Ileasmam

Messrs J. Ross and D. Whibley were appointed doorkeepers. The matter of .providing for a suitable musical programme for the Show was left to Miss J. Ross.
