CLEVER WORK.
lAnTATION £5 NOTE.
MELBOURNE Oet. 3. One of the cleverest and most ingenious imitations of a Commonwealth £5 bank note seen at Russell Street is in the possession of the police who are seeking its maker. The imitation is made from eight pieces .of paper torn from genuine £5 notes. The pieces have been put together so well that nine out of ten people at a casual glance would not see that the note was a fraud. The note, is exactly the size of a £5 note, with the correct border. There are four coats of arms, but three of them have been discoloured slightly. The imitation has no number for had one been put on it, the person who tore it from the original note would not have been able to cash it at the Commonwealth Bank, and he would have made no profit.
