DEATH OF FAAIOUS ROSE GROWER.
LONDON, Aug. 23. Mr Alexander Hill Gray, whose rose gardens at Bath are the Mecca of horticulturists from all parts of the world, has died at Bath aged ninetyone.
Few men. have lived a life of more adventure. For the past thirty years he Jaad sought to live in perpetual sunshine, spending every summer in England and retiring every winter to the Azores Island of Santa Alaria, of which he was uncrowned king. His adventures included prospecting for gold and diamonds in Africa, hunting for rubies in Borneo and for emeralds in Siberia. He was attacked and robbed in the Holy Land, and carried his life in his hands constantly in Persia, Cashmere and Egypt.
